Fighting Inflation: Thinking Beyond Dollars

It seems to be a universal human trait that, as we contemplate our financial situation, we simplistically, and to our great disadvantage, focus on numbers of dollars rather than what economists refer to as the “real value” - the purchasing power - of those dollars. After all, shouldn’t the number of gallons of gas, or the number of eggs those dollars will purchase, be the primary concern? It’s easy to count dollars, but should we be taking the easy route when we’re talking about our financial future?

America's Greatest Export: Our Freedoms

America’s Constitution isn’t merely a historical document, it is the very foundation of national and individual wealth. When we think about what America produces, our minds often turn to technology, entertainment, or agricultural products. However, I believe the case can be made that America’s most valuable export isn’t something manufactured in factories or grown in fields; it’s the freedoms bequeathed to us by our Constitution. These freedoms - speech, religion, assembly, due process, and more - represent the foundation for a society in which individuals can pursue their dreams without undue government interference.
